Our Story
Cut Sew New was born in 2015—right alongside my third son. While pregnant and craving a creative outlet, I found myself staring at a growing pile of old clothing. I couldn’t bear to throw it away—because clothing isn’t garbage! Instead, I saw potential. With a pair of scissors and a vision, I began cutting up pieces from my husband’s shirts, my own worn favorites, and outfits from our two little boys. The result? A quilt that stitched together the story of our family—each square a memory, each seam a second chance. That moment sparked something bigger.
I started rescuing more textiles—gathering well-loved garments from friends and neighbors—and began crafting meaningful, practical pieces for the home. What started as a personal project quickly grew into a mission: to create beautiful, lasting items that honor both the fabric's past and our planet’s future.
My love for art and sustainability runs deep. In high school, a friend and I spent hours reinventing our wardrobes, turning yesterday’s clothes into something new and exciting. I later earned a B.A. in Sustainable Community Development with a minor in Fine Arts, which helped shape the values that guide my work today.
There’s a story behind every thread, and I’m so glad you're here to be a part of it. Together, we can make our homes—and our little corners of the world—a bit greener, more creative, and full of heart.
